our venues
We present dozens of exhibits, performances, lectures, workshops, and films throughout the year. Our arts campus in downtown Hampton, SC offers a variety of venues for this programming and most are available to rent for private events as well. The Palmetto Theater
109 Lee Avenue, Hampton SC
This historic theater opened in August 1946 for stage productions as well as movies. Today the theater has been restored to it's former glory and hosts a regular schedule of concerts, plays, classes and camp productions, as well as a variety of films.
A 2021 upgrade included the addition of full digital projection and sound. New release Hollywood films are presented the first two weekends of each month.
For a current schedule visit www.palmettotheater.org.
Art Alley
107 Lee Avenue, Hampton SC
This intimate outdoor venue in the heart of downtown lends itself to pop-up events, cocktail parties, and small gatherings of all kinds.
The Green Room
107 Lee Avenue, Hampton SC
This space adjacent to the Palmetto Theater is available for small meetings and celebrations of 30 people or less. It also serves as a relaxing backstage area for visiting performers. It opens out into Art Alley.
The Stanley Fine Arts Center
103 & 105 Lee Avenue, Hampton SC
This formerly blighted retail space now houses our primary gallery and event space. A new fine art exhibit is installed here every 6-8 weeks. Since opening in 2019, this space have become a hub for meetings and events in the region.
Notable artists whose work has been exhibited here include Amiri Farris, Janet Kozacheck, James Denmark, Synthia Saint James, Johnathan Greene, and others.
Upcoming exhibits for 2023 include Tarleton Blackwell and Tyrone Geter.
STUDIO 111
111 & 113 Lee Avenue, Hampton SC
Another formerly blighted retail space now houses a mixture of work, office, and digital studio space next to the Palmetto Theater.
Acquired in late 2021, this building houses a convenience kitchen for caterers using our other spaces, a laundry for event linens, and three small multi-purpose rooms that can be used for meetings or set up as film and photography sets. One room features a green wall that serves as a "green screen" for video editing. We anticipate our organizational offices will move into this space by summer 2023, as we convert our Director's current office in the Palmetto Theater into an expanded concession stand.
Behind this building, Pegboard Press operates a fine art printshop, creating lithographs and other hand crafted art prints on presses that are over 100 years old. In 2022, summer camp students created a large mural and a donated fountain was refurbished by Caroll's Autobody to create "Printshop Plaza." This is another fun, outdoor venue that can accomodate up to 60 guests.
